Local Scholarships
CollegeBound Foundation
As a City Schools student, you are eligible to apply for scholarships and grants from the nonprofit organization, CollegeBound Foundation, which works exclusively in Baltimore City public schools to help students like you pursue a postsecondary education. Don’t have CollegeBound Foundation in your school? No worries, you are still eligible to apply for their portfolio of scholarship, which includes 75 unique scholarships, valuing more than $1.5 million.
In addition to scholarships, the CollegeBound Last Dollar Grant is need-based gap funding to bridge the remaining cost for a student to attend college after all available financial aid has been applied. When you complete your FAFSA in January of your senior year, and the federal government informs you that you are Pell Grant-eligible that makes you also eligible for CollegeBound’s Last Dollar Grant. If awarded, you can receive up to $3,000 a year, for five years, based on your academic standing, community service and continued financial eligibility. It’s a possibility that you can receive up to $15,000 in free grant money to help you pay for college.

Central Scholarship
Another great source of financial aid is Central Scholarship, which is a non-profit organization that awards scholarships and interest-free loans to students like you pursuing post-secondary education. As a Maryland resident, with a cumulative GPA above 2.0 at the time of your application and documentation of your family income, you can apply to Central Scholarship awards of nearly $1 million. With more than 70 different scholarship programs, Central Scholarship has funding opportunities for students at every level, from career and technology training, to undergraduate degrees, all the way through graduate and professional school.
Students can receive up to $10,000 a year, and up to $40,000 lifetime in a lifetime. Central Scholarship also offers a unique interest-free loan. It’s like borrowing money from a rich uncle—you pay back exactly the amount you borrow and nothing more. This program is made possible through the generosity of their donors, who share their belief that students like you should be able to pursue higher education without crippling debt.
Remember to be strategic and learn more about available national, regional and local scholarship and grants, their application process and deadlines. Even the small nonprofit and private scholarship awards matter, as this money can help you pay for your books and/or living expenses.
